William A. Plapinger, fondly known as Bill, graduated from Vassar College in 1974 (B.A.) and NYU Law (J.D.) in 1978. He works at Sullivan and Cromwell, where he is known as "one of the world’s leading [Intial Public Offering (IPO)], equity and debt capital markets, privatization and [Merger and Acquisition] lawyers." He has worked in a number of industries from mining to gas and oil to pharmaceuticals. Companies including BP and Powergen have employed him for his expertise in
acquisitions and dispositions.** Bill chaired the presedential search committee that selected Cappy. He is the first Chair to live outside of the U.S. and resides in London.
