Barbara graduated with a B.A. in Economics from Vassar College ('76). With more than 24 years of experience in venture capital* and specialized equity investing, starting at Warburg Pincus** (where her husband, John, works) until becoming partner of Apax Partners & Co. Ventures*** and retiring in 2000. She now sepnds her time working with non-profits including the Brooklyn Museum, the New York Women’s Foundation and the Jewish Foundation for the Education of Women. She also founded her own non-profit, ShareGift USA, which collects, aggregates and sells odd lots of shares and gives the proceeds to a variety of charities. She regularly donates to Democratic candidates and PACs, including $89,700 to the Democratic National Committe, $87,700 to Barack Obama, and $19,250 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. She lives in New York but vacations in her St. Petersburg, Florida home.
