Darys is from the Dominican Republic. She graduated fro Vassar College with a B.A. in Hispanic Studies ('92) and proceeded to earn an M.B.A. in Finance and International Strategy from the University of Michigan. After starting at Deltic Asset Management, and becoming Vice President of Fixed Income at Goldman Sachs. She later returned to the Dominican Republic with her husband and children to work as Vice-President of Corporate Sustainability at Groupo Vicini, a private asset management firm.
Josephine graduated from Vassar College ('57). Since then, she has worked in the admission departments of Pembroke College and Barnard College. She works at Saint John's University and Minnesota Public Radio. She makes regular political contributions, largely to Republican issues. Josephine has donated money to George W. Bush, Mitt Romney, and Freedom First PAC which aims to "preserve...religious liberties in State Constitutions," opposed the Supreme Court's decision to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act which refused to recognize same-sex marriages, and objected Obamacare's mandates on birth control coverage which requires all health insurance to cover some cost of contraception. Mark graduated from Vassar with a B.A. in History ('84) and from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with an M.B.A. He left the world of investment banking to work as the Director of Economic Development for the Department of Sanitation in NYC. He then joined Columbia University where he aided the expansion of the campus into Manhattanville in West Harlem and Morningside as Vice President for Facilities Management, displacing hundreds of low-income people (largely of color) and accelerating the process of gentrification of Harlem. He went on to work as Executive Vice President at Princeton University for nine years, and Presient of Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin where he currently resides with his husband. Beth graduated from Vassar College ('77), following the footsteps of her mother Maria Garbus ('49). Together, they established the Burnam fellowship which grants funds to students working with non-profits or other community-based agencies over the summer. She is the current director of Resource Conservation District of the Santa Monica Mountains, Co-President of the North Topanga Canyon Fire Safe Council, and contributes to democratic campaigns including $61,500 to Emily's List,* $44,500 to Women Vote!,** and $27,200 to Barack Obama. *An organization which works to elect pro-choice Democratic women in governmental positions. **An offshoot of Emily's List which works to "persuade and mobilize women voters to get to the polls and vote for pro-choice Democratic women candidates." Jamshed was born in Mumbai, India. He graduated from Vassar College with a B.A. in biopsychology ('78) and went to earn an M.A. in philisophy from Yale University ('79) and a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology from Harvard University ('83). After teaching* and acting as Dean of Faculty of Arts & Sciences at Dartmouth, and leading as Provost and Senior Vice President at Tufts University, he became President of Cooper Union. In need of budget-cutting, the college announced that it would be ending its historical tutition-free policy. Students occupied his office for a month until reaching an agreement that would maintain the policy. *focusing on cognitive psychology and neuroscience in reltion to the perception of music John graduated from University of California in Santa Barbara with a BA in English. After dabbling in the arts, he went on to join the family industry: investments. After an introduction at Chase Manhattan Bank, he went on to take the reigns from his father and run Arnhold and S. Bleichroeder Advisers, later renamed First Eagle Investment Management, as Co-President, co-CEO, and Director. First eagle is best known for its mutual funds* and as of 2010, the business reported that it held about $45 billion. He is a Director at Arnhold Ceramics, the Arnhold and Mulago Foundations, and Hanseatic Asset Management LBG. Mr. Arnhold is also a Member of the Board of Trustees of Trinity Episcopal Schools, Vassar College, Sports, and Arts in Schools Foundation, and Jazz at Lincoln Center. In his spare time he enjoys tennis, and visual and performing arts. *Mutual funds pool money from many investors to purchase securities. Nora earned a B.A. from Vassar College ('73) and a J.D. (a law degree) from Harvard University. She is a partner in the Corporate and Financial Services Department, specializing in advising family offices and transactions related to the fashion and cosmetic industries of Willkie Farr & Gallagher. This law firm is based in New York where her husband, Jack Nusbaaum, also works as chairman. She serves as a member of the Boards of Trustees the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Joseph Collins Foundation* and the Friends of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. Nora makes infrequent donations to Democratic candidates (mostly), including $4,000 to Judy Hancock and $1,000 to Bill Clinton. *which offers scholarships to medical students who intend to specialize in neurology, psychiatry, or general practice, and who demonstrate an interest in cultural or artistic pursuits. Karen graduated from Vassar College ('88) and received a master's degree in landscape architecture from Harvard University. She is now a landscape architect, a trustee of Human Rights Watch and serves on the board of Friends of the High Line, a charity that transformed a stretch of an old elevated railroad line in New York City into a public park. She is married to Bill Ackman aka hedge fund billionaire (with about a 2 billion dollar net worth).
